How Much Will it Actually Cost?

Can It Really Be Done for $499?

·       That all depends. The key variable is how much of the work you do. Assuming you are responsible for collecting all of the of materials (letters, diaries, oral histories, interviews with friends and family) as well as most of the writing and editing, PFW will only need to help with organization, structure, comments on writing style, and the like. That would be our Basic Plan and could cost as little as $499 for an e-book.* FYI:  we charge $60/hour and (unlike certain professions) won’t bill a full hour for five minutes. An hour’s work is an hour’s work.
*Special offer; the price will soon go to $500.
·         Of course, if we do more of the writing/editing than expected in the Basic Plan, the cost would have to increase somewhat. The same will be true if we are responsible for something not in the Basic Plan, such as producing the physical book. In any case, once we know the final parameters of the project we’ll give you an estimate.

We can provide a maximum that we’ll adhere to—with the possibility of a rebate if less time is required. This fixed rate assumes, of course, that the goalposts aren’t moved. If you want more editing or coverage, or additional things like proofreading or a website, we’ll renegotiate. Fortunately, we’ll have lots of suggestions on how you can minimize your costs.
o   Remember:  in evaluating our estimate, it will be important for you to think carefully about how willing and able you are to do certain tasks, and how you might feel if you can’t do them and choose to contract for additional assistance.
